Yukta Mukhey is from Sindhi family
Born on 7 October 1977 in a Sindhi family in Bengaluru, Yukta Mukhe was brought up in Dubai until she was seven years old. Later, his parents came to Mumbai in 1987. Yukta’s mother, Aruna, ran a grooming salon in Santa Cruz, and her father, Inderlal Mukhi, was a former managing director of a textile company. After school, Yukta studied Zoology. He also did a Diploma in Computer Science from Aptech and also learned Hindustani classical music for three years.
Yukta had won the title of Miss World
Yukta participated in the Femina Miss India pageant in 1999 and became Miss India World. After this, she represented India in the 49th edition of Miss World contest held in Olympia, London on 4 December 1999. Yukta defeated 92 contestants and became the fourth Indian to win the Miss World title after Rita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994) and Diana Hayden (1997).
Could not succeed in Bollywood
After Miss World, Yukta Mukhi started getting film offers. Yukta started her acting career with the Tamil film, Ajith Kumar-starrer Poovellam Un Vasam (2001). After this film, she made her Bollywood debut with Pyaasa (2002) opposite Aftab Shivdasani. This film flopped badly at the box office. Yukta was later signed for Market (2003), but had to leave the film due to injury. In 2003, Yukta signed ‘Kab Kyun Kahan’ and ‘Hum Teeno’, but both were shelved. Yukta’s career never progressed. Yukta also did regional films but she did not get success there either. Yukta’s last film Good News (2019) came after a gap of 9 years and after that she disappeared from the glamor industry.
Yukta Mukhi’s personal life was painful
Yukta Mukhi’s professional life was very bad. After this Yukta decided to settle down. She married Prince Tuli, a New York-based businessman and financial consultant, in September 2008. Both also became parents of a son. A few years later, Yukta came into limelight when she accused her husband of domestic violence and harassment. According to a 2013 PTI report, Mukhi had filed an FIR against her husband for allegedly beating her. In June 2014, the couple separated by amicable divorce and Yuvika brought her son with her to India.
What is Yukta doing now?
Yukta is now raising her son as a single mother in India and is now working as a social worker. Yukta has raised her voice against illegal child labor in the firecracker industries of India. Yukta has worked for people affected by HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and thalassemia. Mukhi is also an environmental activist and has been the face of many cleanliness campaigns.
